FN's World Food Programme (WFP) står til enhver tid i frontlinjen i kampen mod sult. Tusindvis af dedikerede medarbejdere bruger deres ekspertise og alle de midler de har til rådighed - lastbiler, fly, skibe, helikoptere og endda amfibiekøretøjer - til at sikre, at store mængder fødevarer og andre vigtige varer når frem til dem der har mest brug for dem.
Videnspartnerskabet mellem SIPRI og World Food Programme (WFP) blev skabt i 2018 og har til formål at vurdere, om WFP's indsatser bidrager til at forbedre forudsætningerne for fred, og i så fald forklare hvordan. På samme tid undersøges det, om indsatserne har uønskede negative konsekvenser.
FN’s Fødevare- og Landbrugsorganisation (FAO) og FN’s World Food Programme (WFP) har i dag udgivet rapporten The Early Warning Analysis of Acute Food Insecurity Hotspots, som beskriver en farlig kombination af konflikt, økonomisk tilbagegang, ekstreme klimaforhold og COVID-19-pandemien, der skubber folk tættere på katastrofefasen af fødevareusikkerhed.

KØBENHAVN – FN’s World Food Programme (WFP) advarede i dag om en eskalerende humanitær krise drevet af udbredt vold og de langvarige påvirkninger af klimaforandringer, som har ramt Burkina Faso og nabolandene i det Centrale Sahel i Vestafrika.
Mens behovet for hjælp stiger drastisk, appellerer WFP om omgående økonomisk støtte og uhindret humanitær adgang.
