The 2020 Global Report on Food Crises update: In times of COVID-19 giver et overblik over forekomsten af akut sult, dens vigtigste drivkræfter samt hvordan COVID-19 bidrager til, at de bibeholdes eller forværres. 16 partnerorganisationer bidrog til rapporten.
Khartoum, Sudan – David Beasley, eksekutivdirektør for FN’s World Food Programme (WFP), besøgte i dag sammen med Sudans premierminister, Abdalla Hamdok, Kauda i Nuba-bjergene i Sydkordofan. Besøget er en ny milepæl i den gradvise udvidelse af humanitær adgang til de omstridte områder i Sudan.
Næringsrige fødevarer er uden for økonomisk rækkevidde for mennesker i de fattigste lande

Der er i øjeblikket tre milliarder mennesker i verden, som ikke har råd til en sund kost.
ROM – I 2019 modtog FN’s World Food Programme (WFP) DKK 2,8 milliarder i fleksible bidrag, hvilket svarer til fem procent af WFP’s samlede bidrag – og væsentligt under rekorden på 19 procent i 2002.
Fleksible – eller ikke øremærkede – bidrag betyder, at WFP kan bestemme hvor og hvordan, pengene skal bruges.

Under studiet har jeg arbejdet som studentermedhjælper i flere ikke statslige organisationer (NGOer), hvor jeg arbejdede med internationale forhold, som blandt andet har været relateret til WFP's mandat.
Sådan hjælper WFP småbønder med at håndtere tab efter høst, og øger deres adgang til markeder.
I verdens rigere lande sker madspildet på tallerkenen. I de fattigere land er problemet anderledes. Her sker madspildet under produktionen, høsten, forarbejdningen og opbevaringen. Samtidig lider 815 millioner mennesker af sult.
