Efter et støt fald over et årti er global sult nu stigende igen og rammer 815 millioner mennesker i 2016 eller 11 procent af verdens befolkning, fastslår en ny udgave af den årlige FN rapport om fødevaresikkerhed og ernæring i verden. Rapporten offentliggøres i dag.
Ud af de mere end 12 millioner mennesker vi støtter hver måned, udgør de den gruppe, der er i størst risiko for at sulte.
Sult er grusomt for alle, men ikke fuldstændig blind. Kvinder — især i krigstider — er lettere ofre for de lidelser, den medfører. Kvinder spiser sidst, og de spiser mindst.
I sin anden udgave dækker WFP’s Counting the Beans indeks nu 52 udviklingslande. Målet er at give forbrugere i rige, industrialiserede lande en idé om, hvor stor en andel af den daglige indkomst, som er nødvendig for at sikre et basalt måltid mad i de fattigere dele af verden.
Indekset antager en identisk gennemsnitlig indkomst pr.
Mens behovet for hjælp stiger drastisk, appellerer WFP om omgående økonomisk støtte og uhindret humanitær adgang.

Jeg er i gang med min kandidat i udvikling og internationale relationer/Global Refugee Studies på Aalborgs Universitet i København. Før det tog jeg en bachelor i arabisk- og islamstudier med tilvalg på antropologi.
”For millioner af børn rundt omring i verden, er det måltid, som de modtager i skolen, det eneste måltid de modtager om dagen. Uden det vil de sulte, de risikerer at blive syge, droppe ud af skolen, og dermed miste deres bedste chance for at undgå fattigdom.
